RACE RULES

As the nominations and entries increase, the payout will increase at the Pink Buckle Barrel Race in future years. For 2021, there is a guaranteed $2.7 Million Dollar Payout!! Our goals are to write big checks to entrants, stallion owners and breeders! We are creating an event that will be like no other.
We are the world’s richest barrel race!

Futurity
To be eligible for the Futurity, the horse must NEVER have competed in any barrel race prior to the start of their declared futurity year. To do so means to forfeit any and all fees paid and elimination from the futurity.

Futurity is 2 Go’s and an Average. 2D Futurity results are based on a 3/4 sec split.

All riders must be designated when entries are due. Rider changes after that date will be $75 charge.

Horses must be checked in prior to running.

There will be two go-rounds and an average. Total times of the 2 rounds will determine the winners.

Substitutions are allowed only due to illness, injury or death of nominated horse. A vet’s affidavit of proof must accompany substitutions along with $75 fee. The necessary papers on the horse to being substituted must be provided and accompany the change fee ($75). Any substituted horse will be ridden by the originally nominated rider or owned by the original owner and must be sired by a Pink Buckle stallion. No exceptions. All substitutions must be completed before the close of check-in. There are no ‘buy-outs’.

Nomination payment must be rec’d when race entries are due.

Late entries and nominations will be accepted up until race check in. You will be last in the draw.

Late Entry Fees are: double the regular fees + Nomination Fee $300 (if not yet nominated w/in yr) Cash due on site.

No refunds in any case.

A photocopy of the front and back of horse’s registration papers must accompany entry. Actual papers showing current owner must be provided at check-in. Checks will be written to owner as shown on registration papers.

Horses staying onsite must be stalled at the Lazy E. Current Health (within 30 days) & Coggins are required.

Dress Code: long sleeve shirts, cowboy hat or helmet, western boots.

AMATEUR FUTURITY

Amateur Futurity contestants must enter Futurity. Amateur Futurity is a sidepot of Futurity.

a. Must not have won over $40K in earnings over the last 5 years.
b. Must provide current Equi-Stat Report (within 2 weeks of Amateur application) verifying that you have earnings less than $40K over the last 5 yrs.
c. Must not hold a current WPRA card.
d. Must not train barrel horses for compensation.
e. You or an immediate family member must own the horse you are entering in the Amateur Futurity division and have current AQHA registration papers verifying this info.

Should the Pink Buckle determine an Amateur Futurity contestant has made a false declaration, they will forfeit ALL winnings earned during the race and will be disqualified. When a horse/rider is found to be ineligible, the earnings and awards will be forfeited to the Pink Buckle. It is the contestants responsibility to return all earnings and awards to the office secretary immediately. Pink Buckle reserves the right to make any changes they deem necessary.

All decisions made by the Pink Buckle are final – we reserve the right to refuse entry to any horse or individual. Any rules herewith can be changed, added to, or denied at the discretion of Pink Buckle LLC. Pink Buckle LLC will have the final word in interpreting or supplementing the rules and conditions of the Futurity if the need arises.

DERBY

Derby is 2 go’s and an average. 2D Derby results are based on a 3/4 sec split.

Horses are eligible for the Derby for 3 yrs after the conclusion of their futurity year.

OWNER / RIDER

To be eligible for the Owner/Rider Sidepot. You must enter Open. Entered horse’s registration papers must show that the rider is the owner of the horse OR that the rider is an immediate family member of the owner. Ex.Husband/wife, parent/child, grandparent/grandchild

Horses cannot be owned by a business to be eligible for this sidepot.

If a family ranch is listed as the owner, contestant must provide proof that the ranch is owned solely by the people that would qualify (see examples above).

YOUTH INCENTIVE

3D Youth Incentive is no extra fee (must enter Open 4D) and contestants must be 16 and under at the time of the race. 3D results are figured on a full second split.

OPEN 4D

The Open 4D is for horses of any age. Horses must be registered and must be sired by current Pink Buckle Stallions, be a Pink Buckle Stallion or be sired by a Pink Buckle stallion that was previously paid into the Pink Buckle in the year the horse was conceived. All entries must be current on nomination schedule.

The Open 4D will be 1/2 sec splits and equal payout in each ‘D’.

All riders must be designated when entries are due. Rider changes after that date will be $75 charge.

Horses must be checked in and numbered prior to running.

There will be two go-rounds and and average. Total times of the two go-rounds will determine the average winners. (See Race Payout)

Nomination Fee of $200 must be rec’d when race entries are due.

Late entries and nominations will be accepted up until race check in closes.

Late Entry Fees are: double the regular fees + Nomination Fee $300 cash due onsite.

No refunds in any case.

Horses must be stalled onsite at the Lazy E. Current Health (within 30 days) & Coggins are required.

Dress Code: long sleeve shirts, cowboy hat or helmet, western boots.
